Mölndal Energi is at the forefront when it comes to producing electricity and district heating, and has now added district cooling produced from pure biofuel.
The company is contributing to reducing the total carbon dioxide emissions for the city. The district cooling plant will feed cool air produced from biofuel to the new central facility at Mölndal and to other buildings that opt to connect.
The project started with the demolition of an existing heating plant from the 1960s, which was the beginning of Mölndal Energi. Like a number of other facilities built during the Cold War, the heating facility was placed in an underground chamber, which posed a number of problems for both demolition and building that do not arise in most projects.
