Extensive renovation and refurbishment of a national listed building in order to meet the requirements facing a modern art museum in terms of climate, fire safety, security, the work environment and logistics.
Advanced technology monitors regulates the temperature, light and humidity, enabling the museum to display fragile artworks in an environment that is comfortable for visitors.
Other complex requirements included thousands of running metres of technical installations, while increasing the public areas as well as advanced and powerful air treatment units, while keeping energy consumption to a minimum.
Moreover, the building now has a restaurant with a view of Stockholm Palace, an adjacent bar, a library cafe, a sculpture garden, and better facilities, including toilets, cloakrooms and a packed lunch room.
COWI Projektbyrån’s assignment comprised project management, construction management, installation coordination and cost management.
The project was nominated for Årets Bygge 2019 (Building of the Year 2019).
